Lockstep is great, but Vendors selling gems is the best thing ever.

Para 1:

"You're saying that the argument "adding gem vendors isn't cheating because everyone can buy them" is wrong because adding 5-link vendors, while everyone would have it, would still feel like cheating because it heavily diminishes game experience."

No I'm not. Where did I say this? If you read my post I say very specifically:

Under the argument "Is it cheating if everyone can do it?", the answer is no. Any features designed by the Devs and intentionally added to the game, unless specifically designed and advertised as a cheat, isn't a cheat.

Where in that do you see anything about me saying 'everyone can buy them makes it not cheat'. It's cheating or not based entirely on Developer intention. This is pure fact and entirely NOT opinionated.

Furthermore, this isn't even misinterpretation. This is literally failing read my post properly.

Para 2:

"It's a strawman argument because his argument for universality of gem vendor doesn't state or imply that the argument can be extended to all things in the game (like 5link vendor). It's implied that he is saying gem vendors don't feel like cheating because 1) it's universal so everyone has it, and 2) getting gems for free doesn't heavily diminish the game experience because getting or not getting 0-quality gems isn't build defining and they are not difficult to get, but they are tedious and sometimes annoying to get from waiting for a drop/quest/trading."

1.) Arguments don't need to imply universality. I created a comparison using a similar example, 4l's. There is nothing fallacious about using similar examples to support a case. If you want to attack my argument, prove/show why using a white 4l is a significantly different and worse example than gems. Dismissing it as a fallacy is illogical.

2.) "it's universal so everyone has it"

Gems aren't universal and not everybody has them. When leveling your character there are multiple gems that you will not acquire unless you get a lucky drop, buy them, or mule a character.

3.) I agree with getting gems from the vendor not diminishing from the game experience, as I stated above in my post.

Paragraph 3:

Pretty much just reiterating what I said here for most of this.

"However, he isn't arguing for gear vendors and his argument that "gem vendors are universal and therefore not cheating" needs not and does not extend further to apply to gear vendors."

Of course he isn't arguing for gem vendors. My example is a comparison using a similar example. Again I reiterate that there is nothing illogical about doing this.

Please, if nothing else read this:

For example, if somebody said "chairs are cool" and I was like "well you probably like couches", then under your logic, you would say I'm being fallacious or stupid (or something) for assuming he likes couches because he only used chairs in his example.

I really hope this example shows you you're inability to comprehend comparisons using like objects. Yes, he spoke about gem vendors. But I used other item types (white 4l's) to create my comparison. This really shouldn't be that hard to comprehend. And again, if you really think I'm "STRETCHING IT" or this is a completely ridiculous comparison, feel free to explain why it is. I encourage this actually.

Para. 4

"nothing is cheating/experience diminishing as long as it is universal"

Just reiterating that I never implied this, or really anything else related, with my logic. Whether or not something is cheating or not is based entirely on developer intention. It has nothing to do with universality.

Para 5.

Never made that argument. I very clearly stated above that the conditions for different item types need to be evaluated individually. Another small quote from above: "Under the argument "Is it cheating if everyone can do it?", the answer is no. Any features designed by the Devs and intentionally added to the game, unless specifically designed and advertised as a cheat, isn't a cheat. But would the game be diminished in some way because of it? Potentially yes. In the case of gems, no. In the case of 5l's, 6l's, rare items, uniques, and other items, yes. For gems the tradeoff for why this change doesn't diminished the game is that it makes racing more consistent and makes muling less desirable. Both positive changes. For other item types, probably not."

Again this comes off as a failure to read my post properly imho.
