I’m interested in starting a low carb diet, but I’m confused on some points. Namely, what exactly constitutes a low carb diet? How many grams are we talking?

I avoid sugar, flour, other grains, potatoes and rice. I do eat fruit in modest portions (1/8 of a small watermelon for example , a few beans on occasion, a little sweet potato, and lots of veggie carbs: cukes lettuce spinach broccoli asparagus etc. I eat too many nuts. And I drink moderately : 5 drinks a week on average: usually rum and soda or other low carb mixer or a light beer or champagne/ dry white wine. I’ve lost 30 lbs since January and am close to my goal. Maybe 7-10 more lbs. the answer to your question: I’m at about 40 carbs. Sometimes 50. My cholesterol is high so I’m going to step up my activity ( my foot was in a boot when I started the plan in January for 4 months!) I’m also going to take red yeast rice (my dr suggested that) and psyllium caps and go easy on cream, butter, and bacon. I personally don’t think eggs are an issue. I’m going to up my spinach/ kale consumption. (Veggies are higher in carb than I wish- like 10 carbs in a bag of spinach but my friend ate a bag of spinach a day and fixed her cholesterol!) those carbs are worth it in my opinion. It’s flour and sugar you want to avoid the most!!!
