Mania is good. Different doesn't mean bad.

Upvoting because I agree it’s good, but...

This album was disappointingly similair to the last 2. It’s initial trajectory had it on course to be something a little more novel but then they hired Butch back and stuff. The magnitude of difference between, say, FUCT and Folie is way greater than what we saw this past decade.

I know there’s only so many directions you can take, but it seems like they’re settling into a groove which is something I never thought I’d say about them given Patrick’s philosophy on music. But ‘Dear Future Self’ is undeniably much like something from AB/AP which came out 5 years before it.

They need an actual change if they want to make an impact on the pop scene this decade. They may still be wanting to score a movie which could be cool.
