Masculinity Is Killing Men: The Roots of Men and Trauma

I think way too much emphasis is put on 'what women want' and its actually pretty inaccurate.

Just as women think men want them to be thinner than they really do, Men believe women want them to be more muscular than they really do. (sorry I can't find the actually studies right now, here's an article)

I think people way too often forget that good relationship potential is not based on opposites attract, because it is actually similarities that attract.

There are many reasons for a less masculine man to be desirable, they are easier to relate to and would have more shared interests.

Sure, a study somewhere will find women, picking photos of strangers out of a bunch may call a more masculine face 'ideal'. But in reality we don't settle down based on an ideal face. we settle based on complimentary personalities, and we settle for less than 'ideal' faces and bodies all the time.

If you take your understanding of what women want from porn, you are not going to get an accurate view of what is considered 'boyfriend' material.

Sure, saying that we're going to 'breakdown gender norms' is all well and good, and its a moral position, particularly for men, but its not something that people actually follow through on.

Well it starts with you, every man aware of these struggles should make a mental note to stop giving other men a hard time for not conforming. To be brave about doing things that don't conform to gender stereotypes. Women do not worry this much about 'what is means to be feminine', so why do men?

In reality, gender does not define a human being. and 'man' is just an arbitrary set of rules handed to penis owners. Saying that men will freak out and fall apart without such a system to guide them is indicative of a problem. if we rely on gender to define us it suggests we don't have a very strong identities as individuals as it is.
