Medical emergency causes change.

congrats on the baby!

Ok so I hate to break it to you but the change fee plus fare difference is standard. And of course if you book a flight 2 months in advance at a certain price, if you change your flight to one in the next day or two the prices surge and it’s very expensive.

This is what travel insurance is for. Problem is people have no issue skipping insurance and buying new lowest fares with worst flexibility, then when things don’t go quite right they get very frustrated with the lack of flexibility. I guess you are upset with the medical department misleading you. Hey the communication maybe was not stellar but the application of the policy was right. If you read up on the terms of the ticket you bought that’s what it would explain to you for changes.
