Character Scramble VIII Round 0: Jailhouse Rock

Team Jailbait

Seiko Kimura, The Super Ex-HighSchool-Level Pharmacist. Seiko Kimura was an average ultra-talented teenager attending Hope’s Peak Academy, a school dedicated to refining the talents of the best kids in the world to their max. She spent her days refining her techniques and researching catalysts, while a childhood ‘friend’ took advantage of her talents. Unfortunately, a small mix up between a super-laxative and a super-steroid as well as a minor terrorist threat resulted in her expulsion from school. Fortunately for Seiko, her talents weren’t ignored and she was picked up in short order by a what would become the Future Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting despair. It was not an easy fight, considering that despair managed to throw the entire world into chaos, but Seiko still pitched in using her incredible prowess to create antidotes, regeneration serums, and occasionally take to the field herself in a savage state using her steroids. For the purposes of the scramble, only Seiko can use her steroids, and she only has 5 doses of her regenerative serum per round.

Caesar Zeppeli, The Rippling Italian Heart Throb. Caesar Zeppeli was an average kid, with a loving and dedicated father. One day though, this father disappeared, leaving his son bitter and angry at everything. Tossed onto the streets, he lurked the underground for years until, by happenstance, he found his father walking the streets Rome. Hunting him down with the murder in his heart, he instead was nearly consumed by the ancient Pillar Men, saved only by a sacrifice from his father. Now aware of both the danger of the Pillar Men, and the reason for his father’s disappearance, he dedicated himself to learned the ways of Ripple. In the process, he also became something of a ladies man, who is noted to have many girlfriends. After the awakening of the Pillar Men, Caesar, alongside Joseph Joestar, underwent training to fully master the Ripple and end the threat of the Stone Mask. For the Scramble, Ripple has the effectiveness of a police taser when used against humans. His bubble launcher can be broken with a force equal to a couple Captain America shield throws, and his bubble cutter is unable to slice through tough objects (i.e.. Not flesh).

Nagisa Shiota, The Honey Trap. Nagisa Shiota was an average failure of a student. Stuck in Class 3-E for his bad grades, a class notorious for the unfair treatment that it receives, things were looking bleak. Then 70% of the moon was destroyed. His class, once a waiting zone for delinquents, was suddenly given orders from the Japanese government to assassinate the perpetrator, a super-being that could move at Mach 20. This task was made slightly easier as said being, quickly dubbed Korosensei, became their teacher. Korosensei led the class down the path to fulfill their potential, both as students and assassins. Nagisa is notable in that he had the previously hidden talent of being a natural assassin, as well as a skilled body-reader. Nagisa is entering this scramble with two combat knives, though, due to his understanding of the value of life he might not actually use them as a real weapon. He also has a stun gun, and a very effective set of body armor that was gifted to him by his PE teacher.

Shantae, The Half-Genie Hero. Shantae was an average half-genie guardian of Scuttle Town, and enemy of evil lady-pirate Risky Boots. A kind and optimistic girl, she works hard as a hero, having once prevented evil five times over the course of a single day. Having fought through the dangers like the menacing Squid Baron, the armies of the Ammo Baron, and creations of the Techno Baton, as well as various dangerous creatures, Shantae’s powerful hair whip and magic always see her to the end. That’s not to say it’s always smooth sailing though, as Shantae has been through her fair share of troubles, having even lost her genie magic at times, and been converted to the side of evil. Shantae is dancing through the scramble with her genie magic, the gear her picked up from helping Risky end the pirate’s curse, and a few other tools like orbiting pike balls, vanishing cream, and clouds.

Analysis

Setting Effects. The early game for this round favors team Jailbait. They have a person who can be entirely unassuming and is trained in stealth, as well as a certain purple haired gal who can turn into a variety of tiny animals, like mice and bats, or just disappear entirely. They should be able to get to the equipment room relatively easier, especially if the other members of the team run interference. That is something Caesar and Seiko should be able to pull off quite well. With the incoming healing, they don’t have to be concerned with causing a bit of a mess, and Caesar is only minorly inconvenienced by losing his outfit. His ripple should till have an effect on over eager prisoners. The only issue will be keeping the guards from coming down with an iron fist too quickly.

Petshop

vs Seiko. Pre-equipment Seiko is at a major disadvantage. She’s barely above human without her muscle enhancers, and she doesn’t have much in the way to avoid Petshop’s gaze either. Once she gets her supplies back the situation will only marginally improve. While Seiko does show some incredible dexterity, being able to leap through the air and dig her claws into whatever she finds, be it a body or stonework, she does not have enough agility to avoid being pegged out of the sky by one of Petshop’s icicles. Seiko could make some form of sleeping gas though, if she can wrestle out enough time, or if she gets to prepare for the fight. Overall though, Seiko is not the key to winning this fight.

vs Caeser. Caesar, like most of the team, doesn’t have much ranged game without his bubble equipment. Its possible that some items in the environment could be used to his advantage, like how he used pasta to cut through glass once, but that’s something of an if. In terms of avoiding the bird or staying alive, Caesar isn’t too out of shape. Concentrated Ripple on the fingers can let you walk on spikes, stop punches and blades, and a whole variety of defensive actions. The ice itself shouldn’t have an effect on the Ripple. While Dio could stall out ripple users by freezing them, that was a rather direct process, compared to just being in a cold environment, where we have seen Ripple function fine. The randomness of the attacks also isn’t too terrible considering Caesar fought a guy who could use wind already.

vs Nagisa. Would you look at that- no way to fight someone flying through the sky. At least Nagisa has his unassuming beta-stealth going for him. While it might not totally let him sneak up on a bird of prey, he won’t be the first target for sure. Equipment or no though, Nagisa will not be fighting Petshop. If they were in a forest of some kind, he might be able to take advantage of his acrobatic skill to get above the bird, but in the more sheer area that is Green Dolphin Prison, that’s not an option. If the bird was inactive, Nagisa has a great chance of sneaking up on it for a stun gunning, but 1 fight is equal to 1 loss.

vs Shantae. Unlike her fellows, Shantae is well equipped to defeat her avian foe. When she’s fully kitted out, she can use Risky’s pistol to shoot that bird outta the air, lay some traps with the electric clouds, or just straight up fire a beam of electricity. Even without her gear, Shantae can go toe-to-toe with Petshot. A quick dance into Harpy form to take to the skies, the overkill of using Obliterate magic, some old fashioned fire balls if she’s feeling it; Shantae has the means to take beat Petshop and the will to boot.
