I think genesis is a good approximation to reality in the sense that it describes that earth had a beginning and it's not existed for ever It accounts somehow the order of the things as they appeared. Plants appeared first, then animals, then humans. It accounts for the beginning of the suffering of human kind. In the sense that we are supposed to follow a guideline, even if we are free in our decisions. It's just a story that has been there for years. Don't you ever for a second think that all of the people believed it was a literal interpretation . Don't you ever believe that you were so smart that you found out it was not exactly step by step how everything happened. If you really believed that and now you know it's not. Then I understand you're resentment but don't you discard the truth in there just because the story is not 100 factual
