The mental health protest won't do anything

I think it will. I think this protest was a way of people accepting what happened, making sense of it, and why it happened. Most of the people don’t actually know WHY people are blaming counselling services, so I think the protest helped deliver that. I think what’s lacking here though, is why aren’t people asking themselves what they can actually do. I mean other than protesting. I see people blaming the school’s environment, I am still new here so I don’t know yet and don’t want to generalize. So many people are depressed and alone, and I want to ask the people who went to the protest and all chanted Let’s Listen Let’s Talk. When was the last time you checked on your friend who you know deals with depression? A lot of times we slip, and we give too much away, sometimes its a cry for help. Most of us don’t ask for help when we actually need to. What did you do when you heard one for the first time? If you know someone is struggling don’t wait, support them in everyway.

I am not saying don’t blame the university, and I am not saying blame it completely either. Do your part. Get Mental Health training that campus wellness provides, go to PAC-SMH’s meeting on March 12th 2 PM in FEDS hall.
