After speaking with customer service the issue is that after I moved to Hawaii I can no longer access Tether due to the particular laws of that state. So the money is there, but I can't do anything with it or see it as an asset until I move back to a different state. I asked them if they could help me by putting the money into USD or USDC so I can transfer it to my bank account and they will not do that. I also asked if I can transfer ownership of the account to someone that lives in a different state, and I am waiting to hear back, but the customer service representative says that should be possible. I don't know what to do then, I can't afford to move to a different state.
