I have a ticket open with coinbase support (Case #06118873), but their customer support is too backed up to get to this case before blindly collecting from my account. Here is a summary of the events:
I deposited $100 from my bank account as a test - the money went through no problem.
I tried to move my life's savings to coinbase ($25,000) but the transaction failed because it was a SAVINGS account, and not a CHECKING account. No money was added to my coinbase account (not even temporary funds made available) and no money was taken from my bank. At this point my coinbase account still only had $100 in it.
I moved the money to my checking account and transferred it to coinbase. My bank sent the money, and coinbase received it.
Now coinbase has locked my account and is collecting the full value of the failed transaction (#2)! They believe I received money from the failed transaction even though it's clear my coinbase account never came close to $50,000.
