Moronic Monday - July 13, 2021 - Your Weekly Questions Thread

Hello - quick question.

My wife and I are in the process of getting a home refi. I remember when we closed on our home some years back we were told not to do literally anything while the loan was processing. Like don't apply for a credit card, do anything to get a credit check, spend any money, etc.

For this refi we just went through the signing on Wed. and we've been told that a check will be issued on Monday.

Our debt to income ratio is not even a factor this time around at all. We are looking to purchase a car tomorrow and I'm wondering if there will be any impact. Our credit was run back in May and everything has been finalized like I said we signed everything Wed. appraisal was done a month ago, etc.

Is it okay for us to buy a car or will that inquiry cause an issue? I am assuming not as everything is already signed and ready to go but I just want to be sure. The car is an absolute need as I've been borrowing a car for the past two weeks to avoid buying a car. (I had to sell it because Carvana offered me more than I paid for it new 35k miles ago)

TLDR: We did a home refi, everything was good, appraisal, debt to income is not an issue. We signed everything on Wed and check to be issued Monday. Can I go out and buy a car tomorrow now that everything is wrapped up.
