Sorry I’m so late! If anyone else is looking for help with this maybe I can help. Dealing with the same shit right now but the main thing with speeding the healing process is the betadine and scrub stat. Those were both provided by my vet but u can buy them at a drugstore like OP said. You wash that wound with water and I mean flush that thang out I used a turkey baster and would jus flush it out a few times then lather the scrub stat on then pat it lightly dry and then put that betadine all around the wound, then I’d cone him for a few hours so he couldn’t lick or irritate it and repeat. I did it 3 times a day for two weeks then went down gradually till the scab formed. This is what the vet told me to do but he said if the wound isn’t closing or looking better, it needs stitches which sometimes that’s just how it be. Hopefully that wasn’t the case with ur kitty tho.
