My first AR15, M&P Sport 2 with iron sights removed, Eotech 512, MFT Tekko free float M-Lok handguard, Inforce WMLx Gen2 weapon light. For home defense. Suppressor on order.

I'm trying to keep it simple, but here I am already replacing handguards and adding lights etc. My reasoning for what I did so far:

I wanted a red dot sight, but after looking through a bunch at the store, I was struck by how "open" the Eotech was. I just liked that it didn't look so much like a tunnel. The granularity of the reticle bothered me at first, but I'm used to it now. I took off the iron sights because I didn't like how they were now in the way with the Eotech. I know it's probably good to have backup sights, but for now I'm pretty happy with just the Eotech.

To remove the front sight, I had to take it to a gun smith, so I decided to also make the jump to a new hand guard. This one is just what the guy showed me at Sportsman's Warehouse. It looked fine, so I got it.

The light was because this is a home defense gun, so I thought better to have one than not. I also have a Mossberg 500 with built-in light, and I like that a lot, so. The Inforce was also "just there" at the Sportsman's Warehouse, I didn't put a lot of thought into it apart from I liked how low profile it was relative to some other light setups I have seen. I also liked the position of the button, just where my thumb is when I'm holding the rifle.

The suppressor I have on order was from a different local shop, and I basically went with what the guy recommended. It is called a Thor, though not the one you'll find if you look online. It's by a small company based in Brownsville Oregon, apparently. I'll have to wait a few months before I can mount it and try it out, obviously.

It's not a super sophisticated build, I know, but I'm just a beginner at this stuff and learning. Any comments appreciated.
