My issue with Season 1

I agree with most of the sentiments. 1) About episode 6 or 7 I had to shut it off. Juliana reveals she is working for Nippon. Frank goes ape shit. She then slips that she killed a man. Frank looks at her stunned and like he's is judging her despite his experiences with violence (I guess this is supposed to be an interesting dichotomy: he didn't kill; she did; lets's explore that ). But they don't because two seconds later she mentions there was also a guy there that helped her and that immediately turns into an infidelity accusation. WTF? She just said a guy helped her after A FUCKING NAZI tried to kill her. So quickly we devolve into some typical highly manufactured spousal drama. Whatever! 2) What also bugged me about that scene is after she mentions she works for Nippon, Frank immediately gets emotional and says "you are working for them, the people that killed my family." Of course she never says it's all to spy on the. Apparently nobody can communicate key ideas regarding their motivations. What the fuck ever.

A few other issues. 2) Screw the bounty hunter. I'm sure some people love him. This type of oddball scary character is becoming required. Some people probably think he's acting great - but he's becoming a joke. One man with a shotgun and nobody can take him on. I guess they are all scared. Whatever. The town hates him. It would be more believable if he had some muscle with him backing him up. I also turned off the TV after Joe hits him on the back of the head with a 2x4 the quickly run on of there for their lives. WHY? What are your running from? The police. Are more people coming from you. NO! This is a lawless land! Take his DAM SHOTGUN! Search him. Question him. Maybe kill him. Do you think anybody there cares? As far as we can tell, no! His only partner in crime we know of is dead - the Nazi SS agent. This is more highly manufactured Hollywood bullshit drama. "Quick run...Why?... I don't know...it just seems like the right think to do now to keep the pace up." 3) Joe is getting boring. What are his qualifications to be so close to someone so high up in the Nazi whatever? He's dumb sometimes. He doesn't stop to clean the first crime scene up on the bridge? Dumbass. There never going to reveal what his true motivations are which is just bullshit. Was he effected by watching the film? Did he really fall in love with a girl after having a coke with her? Whatever. For a while I started to believe that the Nazi's have his father and are forcing him to work for them. But that would have been revealed on his debriefing. So I guess somehow his obsessed with knowing more about Grasshopper by looking in his bosses's files. Whatever. The odds of him becoming a viable double agent now are slim in reality, but somehow they will probably try to pull that crap off. 4) I think they tied Juliana's aikido training well with her defending herself against the SS guy. But then the akiido stuff disappears for a while. Martial arts is mental! She doesn't show it at all. She has no defense against Joe's "charms". She just eats it up. Don't trust anyone! What kind of world do you think you are living in! This show cannot be centered around naviette! She screwed up big time making an amateur mistake trusting an SS guy. This does not register with her it all. She's still determined. Or we are suppose to be convinced she is special just because they saw show. How about show it! There's a time for tears and a time for business. You can't just fricking cry anytime someone mentions your sister's name. I don't care if you haven't had the chance to grieve which is the shows defense. You would think this generation is accustomed to suffering and tuned out to death a little bit (but that's not a route they wanted to take; they need them to maintain their "humanity" as much as possible). For an extreme comparison, what Boardwalk Empire episodes with Patricia Arquette when he punches a gangster for whining. They should have cast her as a resistant fighter, lol. So, as they are walking in the woods for an important an dangerous meeting, she thinks this is a great time to talk about her father. Joe uses this opportunity to expose his emotions and feelings about his father. She soaks it up, like we are suppose to believe all women immediately trust and fall in love with a guy just because they showed a little fricking emotion. BARF FUCKING BULLSHIT. Use that fucking Aikido defense please. 5) No, I am not just some typical guy who hates romances. I love them. I read poetry. I watch ballet. There's just needs to be time and a place. 6) I guess that's enough. I really like the intrigue aspects of the show though. I like the Japanese parts and learning about their culture. I like the Japanese actors (probably because they don't overact in ways I described already). I also like the German/Nazi parts for the most part. 7) Oh. One more thing about Juliana. She is suppose to be this independent Aikido strong female. Also, I get the feeling that Joe is merely her Taxi driver in the parts when they are in Canon City. And every time, she has to say "I can do this on my own", implying that I don't need anyone else's help. NO! Obviously you cannot! You clearly need Joe to at least drive you around!!! That is just so stupid. Nobody would every say such a thing in such a context. "Umm... I need you to take me here where it would be dangerous and we could get killed by Nazis or even are own people. Thanks. Oh...I don't need you help. I'm a strong women who knows Aikido. Have a good life." 8) One more think about the actual filming. She does a move on the Nazi SS guy and you clearly see him hitting the rail below the top of the rail. Then they switch views and somhow he is falling down. That was simply amateurish video defying all laws of physics. Somehow the guy bounces upwards? Yes, a women can learn Aikido to defend them selves and use another persons attack/momentum against them but this does not mean you have the strength to throw someone up and over a high railing - besides, clearly that is not what she did anyway. Bullshit!
