McFadden is an incredible interviewer, with an amazing ability to adapt her interview style and tone to her interview partner without compromising her gentle but persistent questioning about their lives. She talks with people she's known for around 30 years at this point, and the mutual warmth is obvious. It's like listening in on heart-to-heart conversations between close friends in McFadden's living room.

One important thing to be aware of going in is that the podcast isn't Trek-focused, in the sense that you won't hear about a guest's favorite episodes or whether they think Jellico was right to ask for a four shift rotation. Yet Star Trek constantly exists in the background, part of the tapestry of their lives, which I think provides a new angle on the franchise for Trek fans.
