Nexon poll ends with 84% of players saying phantom needs to be nerfed in some way

I've seen this argument so many times in F2P game forums and I think it's shit. It's still a Beta. It's a Beta as long as the developer says it's a Beta. It's not ready to be released and shipped. That means that, no matter how polished, the game is still undergoing rigorous testing and is subject to radical change with little to no forewarning, if the developer sees fit. They've got to test their store interface too, right? And their MTX model and balancing currencies too, right? If you sign on for a Beta, you should know full well what you are getting yourself info, but that doesn't seem to stop the F2P community from getting all huffy puffy when something goes against their liking because "muh transactions!"

I played Heroes of the Storm from Tech Alpha through Open Beta and they were accepting store payments the whole time, with a few down periods while they rebalanced and retooled. There were numerous account wipes during this time. That means you could spend 100+ hours grinding currency for a roster of heroes, purchase them all, spend real cash on a few skins for said heroes, and then it would all vanish. Blizzard would refund your real money transactions (RMT) to Blizzard store currency, allowing you to purchase other in-game or standalone Blizzard products, but it wouldn't go back to your bank account. And I was okay with this. Why? Because I'm testing the game. I'm not leasing it, I'm not an owner, I don't have the right to complain about the game taking a piss-poor direction at the last minute solely because I threw them a twenty for a cool looking horse.

This would be like going to a restaurant before it has opened and set its menu in stone, and rather than being excited at the opportunity to participate in something at the ground level and giving constructive feedback, getting all pissed off that the menu item you had doesn't make the final cut. Because you paid for that dinner! Well, tough shit, there is produce to buy and chefs to pay.

I'm not going to use the dreaded "E" word, but I really think beta testers need to lighten the fuck up and enjoy the opportunity to play this game and contribute to its direction.
