Number of migrants reaching Europe by sea soars 10-fold - migration agency

heres the thing, i live in minneapolis with the nations largest concentration of somali immigrants, 57000. this is considered to be one of the most successful at risk muslim communities, they have had some terrorist recruitment problems and the general immigrant poverty/crime dynamic, but on a whole, they have been very successful at integrating and keeping their culture, theyve founded business and have established local community/political leaders. i would often wonder why they were so successful here and in europe, they are often stated as some of the worst. so for my senior highschool english project, i decided to look into it. i found a really indepth study about finlands somali population from 1998. basically, it outlines albeit on a much smaller scale, the problems with european migrant communities now, insular sub societies, bitterness with not understanding how to work the euorpean system, hostility toward migrants and the resulting tensions and social programs/housing policies that dont really work. this crisis has its roots in that much of the european system is not equipped to handle culturally different migrants on this level. I cant point out what thse specifics of european organization are that lead to this, but obviously when this flawed system is taxed by this huge current wave, it breaks down. i'm generally pro immigrant and i do think that the west has some sort of responsibility to take in refugees and help immigrants, but i'm scared that this situation is based on a flawed system thats placed everyone involved between a rock and a hard place. i worried that the difficulties with this situation thats really a perfect storm will lead europe down an even more divided path with no winners
