I've gone mad with power in NHL16's GM mode. Just a few games in so far..
I traded Clitsome + 4 2nd rounders to Washington for Madison Bowie (Winnipegger, high potential ceiling). I even retained 50% of Clitsome's salary to sweeten the deal! Bowie is currently playing on my 3rd pairing with Stuart, I'm sure he'll develop just fine under Stu's mentorship (fuck I should trade Stu).
I signed the fastest free agent available, Brandon McMillan, and put him on the Moose top line. He has high potential to turn into top 6 forward in the NHL so I put him on a line with Cormier as motivation to make the Jets.
I picked up Nylander from the Marlies for Jimmy Lodge and a 2nd round pick. They wanted to get rid of him so now he's playing 2nd line center on the Moose.
I picked up Valentin Zykov from LA's farm for Fraser and a 2nd rounder (fuck 2nd rounders). He's a promising young gun with lots of offensive upside and some nice skating stats.
I picked up free agent Sean Bergenheim for the season because I had money to burn and I needed some secondary scoring when Perreault got injured in his first game. In our first player/GM meeting I basically told him to go work his ass off and his morale rating went down. He's on the trading block now, I need winners not whiners.
I sent Thorburn to the press box.. Tough decision but needed to be done.
Petan's with the Jets on the 4th line with Armia & Ehlers. That line gets sheltered minutes and mostly offensive zone starts but they're good for 8 minutes of hockeying a game right now. The hope is that Armia & Ehlers reach their "elite" potentials and Petan improves into a consistent sparkplug.
I sent both Copp & Peluso to the Moose's 3rd line. The Jets were pretty upset and team morale dipped a bit but it's a business. Petan's rated better than Copp and I can dress Thorburn if I need a facepuncher for a certain matchup.
I tried to bury De Leo on the Moose's 4th line because he has 0.5/5 star rating for defense but he said fuck off and decided to lead the Moose in scoring anyway. I like his style, can't even check his coat but he can rip home spoonfed cross-crease 1-timers.
I promoted Halischuk to the Moose top line because I want to get his value up before I trade him.
I sent my scouting staff to Russia because I'm frantically looking for the next Ovechkin.
I brought up Lipon to the show but then I sent him back down after a couple games to the Moose's 4th line. He'll get another crack at the big club someday if literally everyone else ahead of him on the depth chart gets injured.
Chiarot's back with Big Buff because Trouba got injured his 1st game.
Nothing is set in stone so everything is subject to change but the Jets are off to a 5-0 start to the 2015-16 season so I'm happy
