Somewhere, a horn blew and all the trepidation of the melee had to be put aside as the knights and warriors headed towards each other in a thunderous clash of steel and thunder. The crowd shouted in a fury as they cheered on their combatants who fought amongst dirt, steel, fear and blood.
A loud shout could be heard from the bannermen of the North as the first elimination of the melee took place, with their Lord Paramount eliminating Mors Martell amongst a dazz of excellent swords work. Several other prominent figures stood out through the fighting, a mystery knight who was eliminating figures left and right, Aerion Targaryen who was fighting as if he was a dragon of old and a man known to the crowd as Desmond Sixstrings, who eliminated both of the Redwyne participants in spectacular fashion. Other fighters of note was Pollivar Payne, who hunted down Stafford Lannister throughout the fighting and eliminated him with his own hand. Unfortunately Pollivar would be eliminated himself shortly after, by a Yronwood who struck from the shadows. Other surprising eliminations include the heir to the North and Ser Godwyn Strong, both of whom had been favourites to go far in the Melee.
The fighting was rough, bloody and undisciplined and as a result several were injured in the fighting. Durran Storm suffered a few broken ribs from his bout with Ser Godwyn Strong and while he eliminated that man he would be eliminated shortly after from exhaustion. Damon Hightower and Colrin Wull would both suffer major injuries themselves, the former getting rung so hard across the head that he was left on the cold melee grounds unconscious for several minutes before being dragged off by his squires. Colrin Wull would suffer a similar fate, his face was bashed in by the back end of a sword, smashing his features to bits. The Hedge Knight Drulvik would suffer an moderate injury from from a fierce bout with lord Cerwyn, who shattered the man’s left hand during the fighting.
As the dust began to settle the number of participants had been greatly reduced by the first onslaught of the fighting. Exhaustion would slowly set in as the participants continued to fight. Skill, stamina and willpower were of utmost importance during these next legs of the melee…
