People need to be able to do shit like this; being able to find and understand information on their own is an incredibly important skill, both for the individual and for society as a whole.

Bro, asking other humans questions is a completely valid way to learn information and get answers. I'm really not sure why you're claiming it's some intellectual failing to ask questions on reddit? Is it because you wouldn't need to ask these things and would Google it as an instinct, so the approach other people use to get answers is inherently "wrong" in your eyes?

It literally has no affect on you if other people are engaged in that sort of discussion on reddit, so claiming this is some failure on a societal level is a laughable overreaction.
