I went from an m8 to an m9, they're basically the same thing. For people to say its crap, that's a bit silly the m8 was an incredible phone, even with the camera bungle.
I'm one of those rare people that had bought an S6 as I wanted something that was the newest and supposedly greatest, but only cause my m8 died.
Don't think that the S6 is something revolutionary, far from it, it's an upgrade on what was a pretty cheaply built S5. So Samsung finally decided to make their phone from quality materials. Touch Wiz is still nothing short of utter junk. Seems everyone overlooks that cause they can customize using launchers and tweak until you hide the fact touch Wiz is there. The screen well it's bright as the sun, over saturated and the auto dimming is unbelievably slow, sometimes doesn't work properly at all.
The ISO on the camera is great, but it takes only marginally better pics than the m9, my $50 Sony camera takes better pics than both by a massively wide margin, and my DSLR... well you ain't going to get the cover of National Geographic with either phone so I think things need to be put into perspective on this front.
The speaker sucks, you need to do the hand cup to make the tinny mono speaker audible.
The finger print scanner doesn't work that well, nothing like the iPhone 6.
No sd card slot, no removable battery...
The fact is HTC didn't make a crap phone, they just didn't go from a crappy design and a horrible UI to a nice design and a slightly less than horrible UI. They made some dumb moves no doubt, no OIS and didn't upgrade the screen, which isn't really a mistake as the screen is still pretty damned nice. So the S6 had no where to go but up, and let's face it the S6 fanboys are just that, and the media, most of them are fair in their reviews but the way they hype and cover upcoming releases and then review and do comparison tests to death its hard not to come away thinking that HTC dropped the ball worse than the Enola Gay dropped the bomb.
But at the end of the day it's the stock holders that must be answered to and sales are what counts, so I'm sure the bean counters at HTC are all crapping their pants when they must report to the board and the board are probably sharpening their swords for Harakiri.
This won't be the last hurrah I'm sure the M10 will be full of everything the S6 is now, and the S6 will make sure to properly blind you at night while we do something amazing with it like check out facebook or take a picture with 1 more useless mega pixel. The S6 fanboys will dance in the street chanting we win again and us HTC users will feel more shame from the media for buying a pretty good fucking phone again.
