Absolutely not appropriate. Losing weight is significantly easier than managing diabetes: you just eat less calories. I know because I used to yo-yo before diabetes and it was so easy to eat mcdonalds and pizza and whatever the fuck else so long as I stayed under my calorie limit and still lost 100 pounds.

Reality is that diabetes can have a big impact on QOL. Eating out with your friends is incredibly harder, for example. And we can downplay "eating out" but that's bullshit: sharing meals with others has been an important social and communal activity since the dawn of Mankind. So, it seems, has drinking alcohol which is also harder for diabetics. And all of that is beside the fact that food is very clearly one of the great joys in life and diabetics cannot enjoy a lot of it.
