Why people hate some groups fighting for rights.

Feminism is about women empowerment. Only. Feminists believe that through empowerment they can break the famous glass ceiling into a period of equality until they ultimately take over. The stressing of equality also stems from the first waves failure of attending to different social classes other than rich white women and lesbians. The second wave of feminism failed to acknowledged transgender men, gay men, as well as other races.

Feminism began because rich white women thought it was horrible and unamerican that they did not have a right to vote but black slaves were free. Black men could not really vote or their vote counted for a smaller percentage per vote (not sure of either) which caused them to organize fund and riot, because their worth as a woman was equal to black people. The famous lady with her arm flexing is actually racist as fuck, almost similar to the confederate flag. Susan B Anthony was a racist pig, but I'm sure you can't learn that from her Wikipedia article :).

Tl;dr : We are currently in the third wave of feminism which has become very anti-intellectual and more populist thanks to the internet. The third wave of feminisms cry towards equality comes from their own personal failures of the previous 2 waves.

It's still about woman's empowerment though, which I still don't think is a bad thing. Empowerment as in women run the world.
