[Player Discussion] The Week 17 Gronkowski Fiasco

[–]Dr__Douchebag 3 points an hour ago  I'm with you man. You can't bail on Gronk trying to predict what Belichick will do no matter how logical you think it is. Even if he gets limited playing time, you know the Gronk will still do at least 1 thing: Smash. permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]gpost86 -1 points an hour ago  Tim Wright time permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point an hour ago  I think that is the worse play here. B didn't even use a TE in 2013 when Gronk was out. I think Wright has the chance of more time on the field but less looks. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply 0/10000BoldItalicstrikesupLink>QuoteCode•Bullets1.NumbersTable Commenting as: Charlie13 macros

big editorformatting helpreddiquette save [–]gpost86 1 point 45 minutes ago  I think in redraft you can find safer plays, but I like him a lot in DFS permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]thareal32 2 points 3 hours ago  I fear belichick will limit the routes gronk runs because that's where he's most vulnerable for injury. He's an impeccable blocker and those reps are probably more important in BB's eyes. That said, I still want to start him... permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point an hour ago  Maybe the big seam routes but that still leaves the RZ looks. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]Sandcat7 1 point 3 hours ago  Minnesota didn't win last week.. permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point an hour ago  Nice catch. Wrote this at midnight and just messed that up. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]BalRavenFan 3 points 3 hours ago  I'm starting Clay over Gronk myself... permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]Burrneraccount 2 points an hour ago  Same here. Less risk but less upside. With a 16 point lead going into this week the only thing I cant have is a bunch of busts. Brady sat for Teddy B. Gronk sat for Clay. Vinny sat for bullock. Murray may sit as well. I dont even recognize my own team :( when will this week 17 crap end? permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point an hour ago  This is the big takeaway here. Clay may be less risk but I've played him in games where he puts up 1 or 2 points. I feel he has a higher floor than Gronk in this game but that floor isn't very high at all. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 0 points an hour ago  I guess it depends on what you need. Gronk is the higher risk play here but I feel he has the better shot to go off. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]CaptainCox17 2 points an hour ago  This is a horrible idea you're talking yourself into. Don't cost yourself a ship. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point 1 hour ago  Then talk me out of it? permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]CaptainCox17 1 point 46 minutes ago  You know the circumstances already, I don't care if you win. I just don't get why you're taking a shot on a player who at best plays a few series against the best defense in the league, versus plugging in clay against one of the worst defenses against tight ends. It's not a good risk reward decision. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]e0merr 1 point 4 hours ago  I am starting Kelce over Gronk. permalinksavereportgive goldreply [–]matttopotamus 1 point 1 hour ago  Same here. Kelce over Gronk this week. I cannot see him playing more than 1 quarter. Not to forget, the bills have actually had a solid D this season. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point 1 hour ago  Any reason? permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]e0merr 2 points 1 hour ago  I think Gronk won't play more than a quarter(maybe a half at max). Chase Daniel & Kelce will most likely have a better understanding Kelce & Smith. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]justinkimball 0 points 2 hours ago*  I'm doing the same. Gronk has been streaky (quarter to quarter, not overall performance) this year, multiple times not getting his numbers until the 3rd or 4th quarter -- I'm not going to risk 1 quarter of gronk giving me production. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point 1 hour ago  Gronk has the majority of his catches in the first half. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]justinkimball 1 point 1 hour ago  does he? Maybe I've just got a bias for the last few weeks. I know that recently, he hasn't really put him his 'gronk' numbers until a late TD -- otherwise it was a catch or two in the first half at best. EDIT: It's about 50/50 (first half/second half) -- and he's only scored 1 TD in the first quarter all season: http://www.nfl.com/player/robgronkowski/497240/situationalstats permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]effthegreen [S] 1 point 1 hour ago  Yes. Saw the same numbers last night when I was researching this. There have been some games where he doesn't have his catches until the second half. I just don't see Belicheck playing him in the first half just to have him run around and then get benched. If he plays, he gets used especially with Edelman looking like he may sit. permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreply [–]mm1255 [
