POST-GAME THREAD: Royals lose 3-2. The streak and the struggle will both continue.

In the NFL/college they spend a ton of time marketing rivalries to make you believe that everyone in your division is a rival. In baseball you actually have to produce a rivalry on the field. You gotta meet in the playoffs or battle back and forth for years for a division title. Or play a ton of close games and get into fights.

The Royals don't have a rival. No one gives a shit about the Cardinals. The Yankees and Royals were a rival in the 70s and early 80s because of all the playoff series but the Royals threw that away by sucking for three decades.

Twins, Tigers, Royals and Indians have all taken turns running away with the division for the last 15 years now. And the team who has won has earned a lot of respect for doing so. Miguel Cabrera is one of the greatest dudes on the planet and raked taking them to the playoffs. The White Sox did it in 05 with guys like Scott Podsednik hitting WS walk off homers. The Twins did it with baserunning and defense and likeable as fuck guys like Joe Mauer and Torii Hunter. And now the Indians are doing it with great pitching and awesome young guys like Lindor. There is nothing to hate about any of them.
