I think we all need to cool our jets.

Let me give you youngsters a bit of insight from an older baseball fan. Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan, Pedro Martinez. What do they all have in common? They jawed with the opposing team, played hard, and retaliated when their players were hit. Wanna see other pitchers walking towards people they hit and talking shit? Look at Nolan Ryan. Pick any fucking year. He did it well into his thirties. Why? Because he understood baseball as a mental game. You cannot let other pitchers intimidate your players. You can't let batter intimidate your team. When you hold the ball in your hands, you are a god when your stuff is on, and an executioner when its not.

Nolan Ryan in his thirties, hit Robin Ventura, walked towards him after hitting him, daring him to charge, then headlocked him and beat his ass. No one called him childish. No one said he was immature.

The one difference is that venture loses control when he gets emotional like that. His only fault is that he needs to maintain control of the ball when he's emotional. But sparing with Trout and walking towards Lawrie.. these are not signs of being childish and immature! These are signs of being competitive and not backing down from intimidating situations!

Trout walks with a cocky gate and has a very obvious arrogance in how he looks at people. Ventura was letting him know he wasn't afraid of him or afraid to pitch to him. Lawrie had a fucking illegal dirty slide that injured one of his friends. He was letting him know AFTER he was ejected, that he was on notice for doing that again! He was, and is, essentially the only pitcher willing to do what pitcher like Nolan Ryan used to do with regularity!

So stop hating on Ventura. Just stop. I'm sorry so many of you are to young to remember how things used to be with MATURE EXPERIENCED PITCHERS. You may not agree with what Ace did. But immature and childish are not things that need to be associated with this. This is baseball, old school style.
