There's the other side of this too. High earners in Canada pay nearly 50% in income tax. For example, all of my savings have come from salary, which has been taxed at a similar rate. Now, the government will come back and ask for a % of my already taxed savings? That's double dipping.

While my attitude is not as simple as the poster you replied to, I too would consider moving out, given my job allows me to work from anywhere -- I would simply move to Europe, where wealth tax has been tried in several countries and repealed each time (even in France), because it was shown not to work.

And actually, Canada did invite me to come here and work here. I paid for my education somewhere else, and do not owe this to Canada. If conditions here become oppressive, I would not feel bad leaving, just like the last two times I immigrated (one of those from the US to Canada, by the way).
