My sister refuses the vaccine. She wears masks no problem and fully believes in them, kept her kids home from school this year, but has always been so-so about staying away from others -- a mixed bag.
She got COVID. I would have been fucking devasted if she had died. I would have been angry at her, too, but fuck. She's my sister. She's good things, too, and I see them every single day.
I really do understand people who just can't find it in them to care anymore. This has been such a miserable, awful couple of years, and there are a million reasons why people are at their wit's end. Everyone has hard lines, and they usually have those lines for good reason.
But my life would be worse in every way without my sister. This guy's family probably feels the same way, and it's basic human decency to respect that.
