Price drops below 10,000 gold

Personally, I spent $20 to get that huge Nexus bundle with Zagara, Leoric, Li-Ming, and I forget who else a year or so ago (I think it was the Nexus Conquerer bundle?) that came with 8-10 heroes. There are about 8 heroes I don't own and don't care to play and I am sitting on 70,000 gold. I've gotten 3 heroes from loot boxes.

Same here. I also bought Valeera when she came out for real dollars (because I love Rogues and I said I would do that if Blizzard ever added one) and I bought a bundle that had only Li Li and a Stimpack in it because I owned the other heroes in the bundle (which ended up costing me ~68 cents) and I have every hero purchased and I think 25k gold banked at the moment in addition to some gems I still have from 2.0 launch.

I even stopped playing for about 3 months and came back with enough gold banked to still be able to buy D.va, Garrosh, Stukov, and Kel'thuzad.

I'd say it's more than easy enough to unlock every heroes, or at the very least every hero that matters. There are a ton of heroes that are straight up irrelevant. At the moment, at least.

As long as you're just playing the game to have fun and you stop focusing on how "difficult" it is to unlock heroes, it honestly goes by pretty fast.
