Recent column by Keith Idec suggests a third fight may not happen. Who knows? "Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that the Mexican superstar never wants to fight Golovkin a third time."

That last paragraph is a bit disingenuous. He spent a few years being relentlessly ducked by the likes of Martinez, Sturm, Cotto (Ik 160 isn't even his division, but he held the WBC title and GGG was his mandatory), Canelo himself, Saunders and Eubank Jr. He tried to fight Carl Froch (at 168) and Lee but those fights failed to materialise. Pretty much the only top guy he could've fought but didn't is Andre Ward, arguably the best SMW of all time.

I haven't mentioned Charlo or Andrade because when these fights could have happened, GGG was coming off a loss and was taking a long break to find a new network (and later a new trainer). And anyway, Charlo was Canelo's mandatory.

He's 37 and feels hard done by after getting only one card out of six in two fights many feel he won (especially the first). I don't think it's fair to say he refuses to fight anyone decent, especially when we don't know his next opponent.
