Reddit loves to circlejerk the Penn & Teller video on vaccines, but bring up this video by them on the 2nd ammendment and suddenly you're an NRA shill.

I love Penn & Teller. They are a very rare breed of celebrity that actually examines them from a logical and scientific perspective.

I've said this many times and my left-wing pro-gun control friends get mad at me: the gun control movement is based around pseudo-science. It's premised upon the idea that data shows that guns lead to mass shootings, but the data is extremely cherry-picked. Gun controllers literally ignore data on 150+ countries of the world and avoid comparisons between the 50 states. Instead, they will always cherry-pick comparisons between a very small number of countries with high wealth and low violent crime issues (e.g. Australia vs US, Japan vs US, etc). Then, they push up a pseudo-scientific argument that it's clear that guns lead to more mass shootings.

The problem, of course, is that this isn't actually "science." The scientific method involves examining ALL THE DATA available; not merely the 6 countries out of 200 that conveniently support your pre-defined conclusions. And when you analyze all the data, it (a) shows a very weak relationship between gun ownership and violent crime and (b) to the extent that there is a relationship, it's actually the opposite of what they believe: higher gun ownership rates are more correlated with lower violent crime rates.
