resign from work or stay? (For Profile)

I’m yet to write the GRE, and my work situation is fucked up enough that I have a hard time doing anything after hours. Just not enough time in the day. So I’m in a similar position. GRE aside, I also want to work on improving my profile with some projects and stuff at the very least. Which, again, no time to do. So the “after hours” thing is easier said than done. And I’m seriously contemplating quitting.

So if anyone has any idea if having a gap of a few months has any real effect on grad school admissions, then it would be of great help. I have a place lined up where I can work in a part time time capacity on DS projects if I do quit. So I was wondering if that along with having to prepare for the GRE would be a good enough justification for having no proper full time job for a few months in between. Thanks in advance.
