People who are international Students in America, Is it hard to make friends? If you have friends in America, do they have the same nationality?

Have you tried finding friends over common interests? You are at one of the UCs so I suppose there are a bunch of people and student organizations/clubs to join (I went to a small college and was also the only one from my country). It could be a bit hard sometimes though especially if you are the only one coming from another country, just because sometimes you can’t relate to them and they can’t relate to you. When I was in college I used to hang out a lot with my Korean friends because I love Korean culture in general (food, music, movies, language, etc). Sometimes they would “forget” that I wasn’t Korean and started talking about some random thing they grew up with. Well usually one of them would realize I had nothing to contribute and steered the convo to involve me (they’re truly good friends); otherwise, I would pitch in by asking questions about the topic (I’m curious anyway). I know others who have found friends because they play video games, dance, play sports, or share hobbies. Think of something you like and try finding someone who shares your interest. I’m sure there’s someone out there. If you don’t have a clear hobby, pick up one and you will get to know people through the learning process.

P.S. not exactly the right sub to post this question though haha
