Reminder that your boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, or parents are not entitled to your medical information without a Power of Attorney signed by you, and/or a relase form specifically naming them. Sometimes if you're in a coma or in a state where you can't make decisions for yourself and they're your emergency contact, then they can be brought into the fold.

Absent these documents, a medical professional is supposed to (professionally) tell these folks to pound sand.

And these can be revoked at any time without their knowledge nor signoff needed (details depend on what state you live in). Meaning that if you get strongarmed into signing a PoA, you can call back 30 minutes later to get it removed.
