Restaurant people - wine crate question

I found this out later through early sales experiences, mostly palettes and stuff like that, anything that looks fairly solid and not totally disposable, that's generally owned or leased from another company that "just does that" kind of thing-- logistical containers and stuff. Kegs, palettes, crates, whatever-- they go back and forth and get stored in big ol' piles

but, as you can imagine, where cheaper freight options exist, they're taken and we've come a long way from wine crates packed with hay or something. As for wine itself, you should try Oldman's Guide to Wine; it's mostly fortified wines like a good quality port that's still worth investing to taste boozey fruit candy after a juicy steak dinner (imo, salad, rare steak, choice of fixings, port wine to finish is an all time meal)
