The yhird objective is to get guarantee for the Russians minority of Eastern Ukraine. Russia have see what did happen to them in the Baltic states and how they are almost treat like aliens and how Ukraine is tryin to erase theit legacy and engaing in dagerous nationalist talk they wont let this mistake happen again.
If Ukraine turned westwards and formally requested EU and NATO membership then suddenly potential enemy would gain territory where Russia absolutely doesn't want it because it would choke her gaz transit and Give NATO and UE stategic advantages.
The Russian governement have only ask one thing since day one to Kiev a federalization of Ukraine. That would balance Eastern and Western Ukraine. wich mean Eastern Ukraine could veto western Ukraine to join NATO or western Ukraine could veto Eastern Ukraine to join any Russia lead organization.

Ukraine of course want a total victory and is blind enough to net settle down so they are breaking the peace agreements and hope Russia will increase the pressure. Because the only thing that make the regime survive and not collapse and taht distract the population from the corrupt governeemnt is a good old fashion nationalist war settle for the peace agreement would put Ukraine out the international spotilight(Wich they dont want) and push the popultion to check their corrupt regime.

Ukraine fights miserably and their command and soldiers behave with staggering incompetence at all levels. The only people who do something, anything in Ukraine right now are the self-defense militias and it's mostly because of determination and relative straightforwardness of their situation. The army is non-existent and it's not because they lack equipment.They are literally throwing their tanks, apcs etc at the enemy screaming "here shoot it or take it!"
1000 foreign trainers and breaking the Misnk agreement wont help Ukraine simply(Ask the Iraki and the afghan) The troops have simply zero moral.

As yourself the only ountry that have ask for international peacekeeping is Ukraine. Western countries have not even back that and never propose that because both as Russia know that will undermine their interest. They are alrady OSCE monitors on the ground by the way.
