Is anyone else tired of everything being "offensive"?

Raising an entire generation on the 'zero tolerance policy' for everything in their lives as opposed to exercising good, old fashioned common sense has resulted in this oveeblown knee jerk reaction to every little thing that makes these folks feel uncomfortable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about using tact, being thoughtful, & understanding, but not at the expense of honest debate, truthful conversation, censoring all manner of expression (comedy, music, art, etc) & just a basic understanding of language (not every comment is racist, misogynistic, sexist, or subliminally hateful).

Being an illustrator my entire life (& being the unfortunate victim of going to Catholic school growing up in the 80s) I had to deal with this sort of insanity then & it didn't end there. Someone always found something 'subliminal' in my artwork that was never my intention, but was blamed because I pulled something out of their own subconscious that they deemed offensive. Others would call me out if I did something as innocent as being accurate with anatomy whether it was draw breasts on a female figure or make a skin tone anything other than Caucasian. I even stopped drawing caricatures of people years ago because my accurate depictions of their features could cause outrage in many if them, even if everyone else could immediatly recognize them in my artwork and gave their approval (I used to tell my offended subjects that their beef was with God & their parents, not me as I was merely capturing what was in front if me).

Now that this sort of ridiculousness has permeated into every aspect of our culture it makes connecting with the world in any fashion without looking and being treated as a 'villian' almost impossible. It's bad enough to be hated and not forgiven for a misstep or even a bad day, but to have the 'perfect people' mob ruin your life over it is utterly tragic.

They say that 'common sense' ain't too 'common' anymore. I sadly lean toward the belief that this is true.
