Even if it didn't seem like a massive waste of resources to do that, hell our prisons are way too full to begin with for non-violent crimes, it's a dangerous game. Who gets to decide what is and isn't allowed, and what gives them the right. It's a principle that benefits everybody, even if it means having to put up with people saying terrible things. The freedom of speech is a core tenant of a progressive and liberal society. Being pro-censorship just makes us sound like stuffy old Republicans who wanna ban things Jesus doesn't like lol

That's not to defend people who say horrible things, especially shit that's antisemitic, etc. They definitely have whatever social reckoning they have coming. But, as long as you're not threatening people with violence or actually hurting people, people are entitled to all their shitty opinions and can share them as they please. To not consider the ramifications of a society where people can be arrested for saying stuff seems archaic and hyper-emotional. Or in other words, very very conservative and I don't back that lol
