[S01E13] Was Jax being a massive dick here?

I guess no one can really say anything about how much respect he paid to Donna. He didn't even go to Tara's funeral. Donna was lucky. *And I'm sure Patterson would have let him out to attend Tara's funeral. She saw how much she meant to him! *

Uhm, Jax was arrested on suspicion of murder and for violating his parole at the end of Season 6. Tara was buried a few days later, before he was even arraigned or charged or whatever that word is called. I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with the bolded/italicized part because:

1) Patterson did NOT like Jax, 2) He wasn't a model husband or father during the time that he was on Pattersons radar. 3) He was responsible for that school shooting, he'd already confessed to it, he just didn't sign the paper, he was going to do it that evening when he turned himself in, but then he stumbled on Taras body instead. 4) Jax was arrested on suspicion of murder and there is no way that the state was going to let him out of prison to attend a funeral--he hadn't been fully processed yet, he was a huge flight risk, a danger to society, had a history as a violent criminal and had too many shady allies to help him vanish without a trace. 5) It doesn't matter how much someone says or acts like they care about a loved one, when they are suspected of a grisly murder and the case is still being put together they are not going to get out to go to a funeral.

It never crossed my mind that Jax was slighting Tara by not going to her funeral--he was a little busy being imprisoned in prison at the time that she was being buried.

You can argue that he didn't visit her grave in a timely fashion, or that Jax could have had the funeral put off for a couple of weeks because he knew he was innocent and no forensics would link him to that crime, but there is no logical reason for Patterson to show Jax some unprecedented goodwill by allowing him out of federal custody (aka prison) just so that he could attend a funeral. None.
