I sat next to that guy at the Sherrif's office the day or the day before he was shot, when I was renewing my CCW. I was sitting in the middle of a three seat bench and he sat next to me. He seemed kind of creepy and when he leaned back to fill out a form I saw he was filling out a sex offender registration form. He leaned with his back to me so the form was facing me, I wasn't being nosy, it just had those words broadly written across the top. A deputy then came out of the back and called him by name. I thought "well, it could easily have been something like public urination, don't automatically judge." Nope, he abducted and raped a nine-year-old girl in a motel and was going to rape her friend too before he was caught. He was just released from jail a few days before I saw him, and was ordered in because he had failed to register as a sex offender. This is a strong case for why the sex offender registry needs to be more stringent or at least have levels. When public urinators and child rapists are on the same list something is seriously wrong.

I heard him get shot from my house too, I figured it was drunk undergrads on East Campus shooting off fireworks.
