I will occasionally give my kid a little slap if she is screaming like a goddam fire alarm for no reason other than she isn't getting her way. Not enough to damage her or even leave a mark. Just enough to shock her out of what she's doing. And only after a clear warning of "if you don't stop screaming I'm going to smack your mouth."

I don't feel like this is in any way child abuse. I also would strongly prefer to resolve all issues without corporal punishment. That said, I think it's a perfectly realistic life lesson. If you're not going to take no for an answer and try to be brute-force annoying to force your will on people, you're going to face consequences. Sometimes that consequence might be physical pain. But ain't nobody gonna put up with that shit, kid.
