Simple Acorns Fees Calculator

Thanks for your comments, I do agree with them and still think the app is a great tool for getting people thinking about investing and on a platform that is so user friendly. I just wish they were a bit more transparent about their fees, particularly the 0.311%. Over the past 12 months the market has gone up quite nicely so a new investor would have done OK after fees even with only ~$500. They should have to note somewhere that investing purely round ups will get you absolutely no where except donating fees to their coffers. Hopefully Wealthfront and Betterment open for business in Australia as their offerings look very attractive.

Wealthfront - flat 0.25% fee and no fees at all for accounts under $10k or $15k if you share with friends. $500 min https://www.wealthfront.com/our-low-fees

Betterment - 0.25% and no minimum balance https://www.betterment.com/pricing/

I think Wealthfront's zero fees on balances up to 15k is amazing although i have not bothered to look in detail at the rest of their product offering.

Like i said in my analysis i would hope to see these kind of offerings come to aussie market as more companies go live and competition heats up.

For now its the same old story, the big players get the cheapest fees whilst the guys just trying to get onto the investment ladder have to pay the highest fees making it even harder for them to obtain the true power of compounding.
