I was 10. Our whole family got invited to a big fancy wedding. We all had to dress in the bride's traditional dress style from her country (which we weren't from). A big deal was made, fabric was chosen, dresses were designed for me and my sister and finally the big day came. We came down the stairs dressed in those elaborately beautiful gowns and jewelry on our wrists and noses and ears. I was beaming holding my sister's hand feeling pretty for probably the first time in my life. Our whole family of adults waiting downstairs. As we came down ALL, I mean ALL of them gasped and said (sister's name) you look beautiful! And turning to each other and saying, Doesn't (sister's name) look beautiful? No one mentioned me. No one looked, no one came to my dress. Only my uncle stepped up and said "(My name) looks just as beautiful?" I heard him go to the back and make a big fuss about how they never mention me and how could they just do that to me and being really upset for me. I'll never forget it.
