Smartphones to replace cards at bank machines

Sure it's quite simple. I'm only liable for the first $50 of any loss through credit card. That is federal law, pal. And I trust the law on this more than I do your fanboy glee. It was a minor inconvenience that was easily fixed.

Okay... Pal, since you love the federal law so much you'll love that all those protections still apply to Apply Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay since it's just like having a card. There is no difference. The bank does not see a difference. If there's a fraudulent charge, you call them up just like before and they remove it. Let's not forget these are all approved and supported by all major banks. If it wasn't safe enough, then there wouldn't be people using it. Still directly linked to your bank. So much so that you still get all the rewards you would with a plastic card. Again, the bank sees it as no difference to a plastic card. You'd still have all the protections.

Don't take it from me, go check with your bank.

What happens if your phone breaks? They do, ya know. What then? My wallet doesn't break. My wallet isn't electronic.

Seriously? I get it, you don't like to adopt new technology right away. But the way you're just denying facts is unreasonable. This can happen to anything. Your card can crack in 50 different ways and you have to either go to your bank or wait 2 weeks for a new card in the mail if it's a special design. Someone can steal your wallet without you even knowing. Your phone already holds your most valuable information, so why is this any different than holding a credit card AND a wallet with more cards? I mean, I used to check my card balance on my old Nokia brick way before smartphones. Now I can do way, way more than that on a smartphone and have all my cards on it. You keep a backup and buy insurance if you're really that worried about it breaking. I dropped my phone a couple months ago. So much that it was unusable. Since I have decent insurance, I had a new phone the same day. Everything was backed up so I didn't even skip a beat. I simply took the 3 seconds it takes to log into iCloud to remotely wipe my phone.

Sounds like you're shit out of luck when that happens.

Well, I wasn't....

The rest of your blather is just shilling...

Haha. Shilling for what exactly? I'm guessing you're going to tell me I love smartphones too much. If you actually had a solid argument, it would be something. Your ignorance is comical. Like I said in my previous comment, I'm not even saying which ones better for you. Everyone's different and won't adopt it right away. Like I said, I don't care if you use it or not. Seems like you are very comfortable with the current system. Likely it would give you a huge headache to try new things, so I actually would suggest you keep doing what you do. These things are for convenience and safety and people who want to use it, will. Those who refuse, won't. Nothing wrong with either.
