I was with my girlfriend, and the police stopped us. I was asked to step out of the vehicle. Asking people to step out of their cars when it is not necessary is a dirty tactic commonly deployed by cops to intimidate Pakistani citizens. Despite the disrespectful behavior, I cooperated with them while reminding them that I was doing so because I was grateful for them doing their duty to ensure our safety. Then began their interrogation. After I proved my identity and explained that I was with my friend, they started lecturing me, trying to intimidate me into giving them money. When I respectfully disagreed with them, they realized they could not. One of the cops asked me if I lived in England or Pakistan. I said goodbye because I was exhausted and did not want to indulge a man who wanted me to be upset about living in Pakistan and regretting not living in a country that would treat its citizens better.
