Pitbulls claim another victim in the Bronx

Yes. I ended up with a dog whose dad was pit. I had no idea until I got DNA (I'd even asked beforehand bc I never wanted to own one) and only THEN did I learn his genetics made him look more Aussie shephard and I would've never guessed he was half Pitt.

I am unemployed homemaker so I'm able to guard and train him day in and out, and have since he was born. Little children are a definite NO. I keep him by my side all the time and make sure he's as tired as a toddler every day with tons of enrichment, games, whatever.

That's the only reason I'm able to keep him and ensure he's got a good head on his shoulders. THE first thing I taught him was his boundary and recall. If your dog won't recall, it's my opinion they should not even be handled in public on a harness bc many escape them easily. Mine has a collar, leash, and harness with a handle at all times if in public.

I'm still nervous to own him just because. I have faith in him, but I'd never let him be put into a situation where he could get into trouble.

I don't go out, don't date or socialize, I spend allllll of my time guiding him through everything with calm aura. As laid back as he is, if someone shows up unexpected, he knows to go in the house to be in position for his leash and harness. I still would NEVER EVER let him off lead or run loose unless he's in the fence and even then, if the neighbors have company, when he sees them slowing down, he'll come and get in position for his harness and lead and we will go say hello THROUGH THE FENCE so he can visit his best poodle friend.

I'm a Pitt owner, but not on purpose and I have dedicated my whole life to making sure his is a live well lived. He's fixed as they all should be, so I will not perpetuate the problem.

Right this minute, he is eyeballing a squirrel playing on the mountain and I said, "Nooo, Bubby, we don't bother the babies, nuhh uhh " He just laid his head back down. I'm in agreement that the owners should be put down. If you can't be trusted security, you shouldn't have one. An old neighbor had one that looked like it lifted weights. They never allowed it any exercise or social interaction. You could feel the air being sucked out as it hiked and pissed a gallon right at our feet and snarled like it wanted supper. We moved shortly after. To beat it all, he was a member of an alphabet agency and was NEVER there. Ugh.
