I have a little fan fic in my head.

I see House traveling to a C or S American country. He uses the little money Wilson left him to set himself up there. The plan was to get plastic surgery and go back to the US with a new identity. He ends up seducing (with his awesome culinary skills) a foreign girl who wants to go to the US. House is stringing her along, but ends up becoming interested in her quick wit. She wants to be a doctor (what a surprise). House sees himself in her (crappy dad and no friends growing up) and decides to come clean. She already knew or at least suspected he was getting a new identity. They end up in a "relationship" where House mentors her on her quest to become a Dr and she cooks and cleans. Finally the day comes where she feels she can become a Dr in the US. House has to decide if he can actually change and kick his Vicodin habit and start a life with her here (they can buy a small house with the money Wilson left. Gotta love that exchange rate. With his unofficial tutelage she can be a great doctor. He can be a chef. This is kinda the life the Stacey hallucination tried to show him). The reason he stays here is because she is against plastic surgery. Her mom died to it. She is not a moral crusader against plastic surgery but can't stand the thought of anyone close to her going the route of her mom. Or he can watch her go (more than likely end up working for Chase. Once she says Everybody lies and winks, Chase will know House trained her.) and maybe in her life by solving cases online like he did before (she would post symptoms online and he could help her that way).

I like to think House draws strength from the fact he did change for Wilson and is willing to try again. He succeeds and his leg pain is mitigated due to him focusing on his booming culinary career. And the house they brought is filled with the sound of a piano playing when a Dr comes home.

Of course he is still the insufferable Dr House we all know and love, so their relationship comes close to ending numerous times.

Finally the day comes when gets a call from 13. He needs to fulfill the promise he made. Unfortunately, this is House we are talking about. His wife finds out and is morally conflicted but she is against euthanasia. House fulfills his promise and ends up losing his wife. They had an agreeable split and House still kept the house.

Even though he proved himself wrong and people can change, he proved himself and people can't change.
