Stranger Things SAG Awards speech: "We will shelter freaks and outcasts — those who have no hope. We will get past the lies. We will hunt monsters"

You seem to have a childlike Hollywood understanding of WWII. It wasn't "the greatest generation" that defeated the Nazis, it was the Soviet peasants fighting with their own officers' guns pointed at their backs. While the Allies were faffing about in North Africa and the Mediterranean, much to Stalin's rage, the Germans and Soviets were carrying out the largest military confrontation in world history along the eastern front. The Soviet effort was decisive in destroying Germany's capability to wage war. The Soviets lost 11.3 million men and inflicted losses of 4.3 million on the Germans/#/media/File:World-War-II-military-deaths-in-Europe-by-theater-year.png), 80% of their total war deaths. The U.S. lost 180,000 men on the western front. By June 1944, German numbers were insufficient to mount an effective defense and the Allies rolled through France. By that October, the Nazis were conscripting old men and young boys for the Volkssturm. If defeating Nazis is what makes a nation "great" then the WWII era Soviets beat "the greatest generation" by many miles.
