Stressed Senior Needs More Target Schools

Your counselor is severely inflating your chances at some of these schools. Not to be rude, but either he/she doesn't know what he/she's talking about or he/she is intentionally inflating your chances to you in order to hype you up and to make you not scared to apply to difficult schools.

Emory, USC, and NYU are not targets. GWU is not a safety.

You should still definitely apply to these schools if you're interested in them because you do have a shot at getting accepted but don't go into it thinking you're an auto admit to GWU and have fantastic chances at USC, Emory, and NYU.

Yes, test optional means test optional, but without AP's (even if you couldn't control it) and with just "solid" EC's, you probably don't stand out as a candidate at these schools. Your GPA is in line with what thousands and tens of thousands of students have when they apply to these kinds of schools.
