I totally agree that LE seems to have done a good job in this case.

However, isn’t the nature of a forum like this one where people exchange ideas and speculate about a crime, who might be responsible and what LE is doing to investigate the crime? Doesn’t that necessarily entail postulating theories about individuals and LE? Isn’t it obvious that some theories will be right and many will be wrong?

Without a doubt, many got over their skis on a range of issues, a loud minority may have gotten WAY over their skis on some things, and an even smaller minority committed shameful and potentially illegal acts against innocent people. For better or worse, this seems par for the course in the world we live in. I think most would agree that theorizing in a discussion group is ok, while accusing and doxxing people is not.

I know this may be an unpopular view, but these virtue-signaling posts and comments, made with the benefit of hind-sight and for no real purpose other than shaming some undefined group of people, make me want to puke.
